The compressed match schedules costs players
10 February 2012With less than one month remaining before the Spring season of Superligaen, Nathan Coe, the goalkeeper of SønderjyskE has been injured and might be ruled out the first couple of games, leaving the team with just a youngster, without a single match of experience in the best Danish league. Meanwhile the big European leagues are going in a decisive phase, with a lot of new injuries, which leads to the importance of having a squad with high quality of the reserves as well.
English Premier League
Bad news for Newcastle United. This seasons big surprise from the North must continue their progress towards the top spots without their striker in form, Leon Best. He has completely filled out the role while Demba Ba has been away for AFC, but is now suffering from a long-term injury in his knee. Another long-term injury is the news of Ferrie Bodde from Swansea. After being ruled out by injuries before, he unluckily gained an injury which will probably rule him out for the rest of the season. At last many players have returned from AFC, where only the finals are remaining – scheduled to be played this weekend alongside with this round of the English Premier League.
German Bundesliga
The 21st round of the 2011/2012 season of the German 1. Bundesliga is approaching in the upcoming weekend! Some of the teams have had mid-week fixtures in the DFB-Pokal. Among these are Bayern Munich who beat VfB Stuttgart. The victory however came at a high cost as midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger tore an ankle ligament and will be out for some time. In Leverkusen, Bayer 04 player Sidney Sam is suffering from a muscle injury and will be back in start April 2012. Also Bayer 04 striker Eren Derdiyok is suffering from a cut he recieved in the 20th round fixture against VfB Stuttgart and expected out the upcoming round. In the same match VfB Stuttgart’s Cristian Molinaro was shown the red card in the 92nd minute which has resulted in a three-match suspension. Lastly FC Kaiserslautern’s Pierre de Wit and Mönchengladbach’s Martin Stranzl are both suffering from the winter weather in Northern Europe and are due to colds doubtful for the 21st round.
Spanish Primera Division
Hamit Altintop suffers a muscle tear in the inner calf, according to the medical report issued by Real Madrid on Thursday. He will therefore not be able play this sunday against Levante in Madrid. The city’s other big team, Atlético de Madrid, is now awaiting for the results of the muscle trauma Diego GodÃn is suffering from. He is doubtful for Saturday’s match against Racing. In Espanyol is it Juan AlbÃn, despite of the other six injured teammates, who is now having serious problems with the rectus femoris in his leg. He was operated on Septermber the 13th and is not supposed to play against Zaragoza this weekend.
